New series of Woodrise webinars

Publication date:2021-01-06

In the fall of 2019, Québec City welcomed the second edition of Woodrise, an international conference on mid- and high-rise wood buildings, held under the theme Building our cities for future generations. This international forum was organised jointly by FPInnovations (Canada) and the FCBA Technological Institute (France). It brought together nearly 1000 stakeholders, decision-makers, and professionals from the wood construction sector, representing 29 countries.

Since then, FPInnovations has pursued its efforts to promote the rise of massive wood construction in Canada. Among other things, research work is ongoing in different areas to increase knowledge on the properties of the construction material and systems and to facilitate changes to the building codes.

New series of webinars

FPInnovations recently organized a webinar for its partners of the Woodrise Alliance (WRA). The event aimed at providing updates on new scientific knowledge. This first webinar, held by videoconference, was held on the theme Dynamics of Structures, with specific emphasis on wind-induced vibrations.

Given the interest generated by the webinar, organizers decided to open access to all interested parties. As a result, nearly 50 professionals from around the world could watch the updates provided by the four presenters.

The second WRA webinar, organized by FCBA, will discuss Building Acoustics. The webinar will take place on February 11 at 10 a.m. (Québec) and 4 p.m. (France). For more information on the webinars or to attend, please contact Sylvain Gagnon (FPInnovations) or Jean-Luc Kouyoumji (FCBA).

Next Woodrise congress

The next edition of the Woodrise world congress with be held from October 15 to 19, 2021 in Kyoto (Japan), under the theme Wooden buildings for sustainable development – from the tradition to the future. Stay tuned for more information: http://woodrise2021.jp/en/.
