The 2019 Canadian Forest Genetics Association (CFGA) conference will take place from August 19 to 23, 2019, at the Manoir du Lac Delage, located about 20 minutes away from the historic centre of Quebec City.
The conference will address how the different fields of forest genetics will be part of an integrated solution to address future challenges in the forestry sector. For instance, large-scale Canadian forest genomics projects have already generated knowledge that has made it possible to develop decision support tools. Derived products using novel measuring technologies will accelerate the creation of resilient and renewable forest resources, improve the detection and monitoring of pests and diseases, and make predictions of the impact of climate change on forest landscapes much more accurate.
Of a multidisciplinary nature, this conference will bring together scientists and professionals working in parallel but complementary fields.
The program includes presentations, but also workshops, a visit of Vieux-Quebec and a field trip to provincial plantations and nursery.
