In 2016, FPInnovations was mandated by White River Forest Products and the Center for Research and Innovation in the Bio Economy (CRIBE) to improve and optimize the recovery of Ontario sawmills during the introduction and implementation of specific advanced and innovative technologies using state of the art sawmill simulation systems.
This mandate included an evaluation of the breakdown of logs, cants, and boards throughout sawmill to identify opportunities to increase solid wood product recovery including new saw patterns, and the link to log parameters such as diameter and drying.
FPInnovations is now pleased to offer to the Ontario wood products industry a webinar that will summarize most of the knowledge developed through this project. The webinar, to be held on April 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will include:
|10:10||By-products processing equipment and potential products||Rami Abdallah|
|10:50||Saw temperature monitoring||Alain Gingras|
|11:30||Impact of log diet optimization (adapting sawlogs to sawline)||William Tropper|
|12:10||Importance of parameter concordance between optimizers in the sawmill||William Tropper|
|12:50||SM2 projects presentation: intelligent log turner, strands for particleboard, intelligent debarking||Vincent Monbourquette|
|13:30||State of wood construction in Ontario||Ben Romanchych|
|14:00||Closing remarks||Peter Åsman|
Members and industry partners interested in attending one or several of these presentations can send an email to Peter Åsman (firstname.lastname@example.org) to receive the link to connect to the webinar.
The webinar will be recorded for those who want to watch the presentation later.
