Research on cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) and related applications has made considerable progress over the last years, and CNCs are now showing great promise in a multitude of applications. Wadood Hamad, Principal Scientist and Research Leader at FPInnovations’ Cellulosic Biomaterials group, has been involved in CNC research for nearly 15 years now. It is his personal and professional interest, that led him to gather a great amount of knowledge into a single book, recently published by Wiley: Cellulose Nanocrystals: Properties, Production and Applications.
After spending major efforts with his co-workers and partners to scale up production of CNC and explore new possible applications, and as interest in CNCs around the world continues to grow, it became clearer to Wadood that a dedicated monograph would be a good thing to have for both experienced and young researchers. Intended for researchers in academia, research institutes, as well as industry, this book is unique in its format in that it has in-depth material characterisation and analysis, but there is a significant chapter on applications, which is fairly new and expansive.
