The 4th edition of the Montreal Wood Convention will be held on new spring dates. This year, the event will take place March 22–24 and, once again, at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth hotel in Montreal. Nearly 800 participants and over 100 exhibitors are expected to attend.
New this year: A seminar on hardwood markets will launch the activities on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 22. First, there will be a talk on the U.S. market, with Mike Barrett, editor of the Hardwood Review, which publishes essential periodicals for this industry. Then Michael Snow, Executive Director of the renowned American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), will provide an overview of the global market. The seminar will be conducted by François Robichaud, Business Intelligence Research Leader at FPInnovations.
With “profitable investments” as the theme, the technical seminar on the morning of Thursday, March 24, will welcome leading equipment and service providers for the wood products industry, who will present examples of success stories. This year, the participants will have the opportunity to hear Frédéric Beaulieu of Vallée, Dany Brousseau of Liebherr, Damien Meyer of Linck, Éric Faucher of Carbotech, Wes Love of Taurus-Craco, and Tom Levasseur of DK-Spec. The seminar will be conducted by Charles Tardif, Vice-President of Maibec. The event is being jointly organized by FPInnovations and the Montreal Wood Convention.
At lunch on Wednesday, March 23, the 2016 keynote speaker will be Earle G. Hall, speaker and prolific writer as well as hi-tech entrepreneur. His experience is expressed through his organizational restructuring and growth projects as well as through his entrepreneurial coaching and mentoring practice, teaching, and lecturing. On the basis of his research in organizational psychology, he is presenting a talk on “The Science of Happiness.”
